Solflare is a wallet built around Solana. It launched in 2020, before most of today's Solana apps, and is known for its staking tools.

Who makes it

Solflare, a Solana-focused company. It offers a web wallet, a browser extension and mobile apps.

What you can do with it

Hold Solana tokens and NFTs. Solflare is Solana-native, not a general multichain wallet. Since late July 2026 a built-in bridge accepts deposits from Bitcoin, Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Tron, NEAR and Base, converting them into Solana assets.

Stake SOL. Solflare charges no fee of its own on native staking. The validator takes a commission, typically 3% to 7% of rewards. In August 2026 yields were roughly 5.5% to 7% a year. Unstaking normally takes 2 to 4 days; instant unstaking costs about 0.5% to 3%. Lesson 8 explains staking.

Swap. Swaps route through Jupiter, Solana's main swap aggregator. The default slippage tolerance is 0.5%. Lesson 15 explains slippage.

Bridge. After a free launch period, the bridge charges 0.1% between stablecoins and 1% for other pairs.

Use hardware wallets. Ledger (not in Firefox), Keystone by QR code, and Solflare Shield, a screenless card that signs over NFC with the mobile app.

Stay protected. Features include transaction simulation, malicious-site checks and biometric login.

What it is less good at

It is mainly for Solana; if you hold Ethereum-style tokens you will want a second wallet. Ledger does not work in Firefox. In July 2026 the Solflare debit card stopped working after its card partner withdrew; balances and staking were not affected.

Is it safe?

Solflare is self-custody. Only parts of it are open source. A 2022 theft of about $4.1 million from Solana wallets was traced to another wallet, Slope, not Solflare. Install it only through solflare.com.

Who it suits

Solana holders who want strong staking tools and a choice of hardware signers.

Setting it up safely

  1. Install from the source. Go to solflare.com yourself, by typing the address, and follow its link to your browser's extension store. Do not use search ads or links from messages. On the store page, check the publisher name and the number of users.
  2. Write the seed phrase on paper. Solflare shows it once when you create a wallet. Write every word in order and keep it offline. Lesson 30 shows how, and our free backup card helps.
  3. Never type the phrase anywhere else. No genuine site, support agent or app update will ask for it.
  4. Start small. Send a small amount first and check it arrives before moving more.
  5. Review connections. From time to time, remove app connections and token approvals you no longer use.

How it compares

Compared with Phantom, Solflare is narrower, covering Solana only, but offers more hardware options (Ledger, Keystone and its own Shield) and fee-free native staking. Compared with Backpack, it has no exchange attached, which some people prefer.

In short

Solflare is a Solana-native wallet with fee-free native staking, Jupiter swaps and three hardware options. It is not for Ethereum-style tokens, and Ledger does not work in its Firefox version.

These guides describe what each wallet does. They are not recommendations, and none of these companies paid to be listed. Never type your seed phrase into a website, and install wallets only through the maker's own site.
