Zerion began as a tool for tracking crypto portfolios and became a full self-custody wallet. It is strongest at showing you everything you hold across many networks and DeFi apps in one place.
Who makes it
Zerion, a company founded in 2019 and based in the US. The wallet runs as a browser extension, a web app and mobile apps.
What you can do with it
Track your whole portfolio. Zerion shows tokens, NFTs and DeFi positions across dozens of Ethereum-style networks and Solana. It counts 66 networks for its Premium fee discount. Tracking is free.
Hold and send crypto. The extension is a full wallet for signing transactions, not only a viewer. It runs in Chrome, Firefox and other compatible browsers.
Swap and bridge. Zerion charges a platform fee on in-app swaps, on top of exchange and network costs. One independent review put it at about 0.8%. Premium members pay half.
Premium. Zerion Premium costs $99 for a year, paid once, and gives 50% off swap and bridge fees, plus extra analytics. Some long-standing holders of a Zerion NFT get it for life.
Use a Ledger. Zerion supports Ledger connections for Ethereum-style networks. Reviewers suggest a Solana-first wallet for Ledger signing on Solana.
What it is less good at
Sources disagree on some details, such as its standard swap fee, so check the quote in the app. Hardware support is limited to Ledger.
Is it safe?
Zerion is self-custody: you hold the seed phrase. Seeing all your DeFi positions in one place helps you spot approvals and positions you have forgotten, which is a real safety benefit (Lesson 37). As always, install it only through zerion.io.
Who it suits
People with funds spread across many networks and DeFi apps who want one clear view, and who also want to sign transactions from the same place.
Setting it up safely
- Install from the source. Go to zerion.io yourself, by typing the address, and follow its link to your browser's extension store. Do not use search ads or links from messages. On the store page, check the publisher name and the number of users.
- Write the seed phrase on paper. Zerion shows it once when you create a wallet. Write every word in order and keep it offline. Lesson 30 shows how, and our free backup card helps.
- Never type the phrase anywhere else. No genuine site, support agent or app update will ask for it.
- Start small. Send a small amount first and check it arrives before moving more.
- Review connections. From time to time, remove app connections and token approvals you no longer use.
How it compares
Compared with Rainbow and Rabby, Zerion is the strongest at showing every position you hold across networks and apps, and it adds Solana. Its swap fee is higher than Rabby's unless you pay for Premium. Compared with MetaMask, it is less often the wallet apps expect, but almost all apps that support MetaMask also connect to it.
Zerion combines a full self-custody wallet with one of the clearest portfolio views across Ethereum-style networks and Solana. Swaps carry a platform fee that Premium halves, and Ledger support covers Ethereum-style networks only.
These guides describe what each wallet does. They are not recommendations, and none of these companies paid to be listed. Never type your seed phrase into a website, and install wallets only through the maker's own site.
