Enkrypt is a browser wallet that covers several very different blockchain families with one seed phrase: Ethereum and its networks, Bitcoin, Solana and Polkadot. It is open source.
Who makes it
MyEtherWallet, one of the oldest Ethereum wallet projects. Enkrypt is its browser extension.
What you can do with it
Hold crypto on many networks. The listing claims more than 70 built-in networks, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain, Avalanche, Solana, Bitcoin, Polkadot and Kusama, and networks built for Polkadot such as Moonbeam and Acala. Few wallets cover Polkadot and Bitcoin alongside Ethereum.
Use one recovery phrase for all of them. One seed phrase backs up every network. That is convenient, and it also means one phrase guards everything (Lesson 23).
Swap across networks. Enkrypt includes swaps, including between networks. Its listing does not state a fee; check the quote.
Buy crypto. You can buy through partners inside the wallet.
Use apps and NFTs. It connects to crypto apps, suggests featured ones and shows NFTs.
Use a hardware wallet. Enkrypt supports hardware wallets.
What it is less good at
It is smaller than MetaMask or Phantom: its Firefox listing showed fewer than 2,000 users in 2026, so fewer apps test against it. Support for each network can be less complete than in a wallet built for that network.
Is it safe?
Enkrypt is self-custody and published under the MIT licence, so its code can be checked. As with any extension, install it only through enkrypt.com.
Who it suits
People who hold Polkadot-family tokens alongside Ethereum and Bitcoin and want one open-source wallet for all of them.
Setting it up safely
- Install from the source. Go to enkrypt.com yourself, by typing the address, and follow its link to your browser's extension store. Do not use search ads or links from messages. On the store page, check the publisher name and the number of users.
- Write the seed phrase on paper. Enkrypt shows it once when you create a wallet. Write every word in order and keep it offline. Lesson 30 shows how, and our free backup card helps.
- Never type the phrase anywhere else. No genuine site, support agent or app update will ask for it.
- Start small. Send a small amount first and check it arrives before moving more.
- Review connections. From time to time, remove app connections and token approvals you no longer use.
How it compares
Compared with MetaMask, Enkrypt covers Bitcoin and the Polkadot family from the start and is fully open source, but far fewer people and apps use it. For Cosmos chains, Keplr is the closer match; for Bitcoin collectibles, Xverse or Leather go deeper.
Enkrypt is MyEtherWallet's open-source browser wallet, covering Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana and Polkadot from one seed phrase. It is far smaller than the leading wallets, so apps may support it less well.
These guides describe what each wallet does. They are not recommendations, and none of these companies paid to be listed. Never type your seed phrase into a website, and install wallets only through the maker's own site.
